I try not to be a hater but sometimes I just can’t help myself.  I hate those Cialis commercials.  I hate them because they make women look like a panting dog just waiting on it’s master to give it the go ahead to jump up and fetch the ball.  Hmmm–even I didn’t see that play on words coming.

Yes, it’s true most of us sit around just dreamily looking into our man’s eyes, longing for him to spring *cough* into action and pounce.  Right girls?  Most of us do that, right?    I do that so what’s wrong with the rest of you? *clears throat because fibbing causes phlegm*
Give me a break.  If the truth be told, most women (and I might or might not be talking about myself here) mostly give this look when that subject is broached.

I normally don’t spend a great deal of time thinking about my sperm.
But recently a team of scientists announced they had made artificial sperm from human bone marrow, and media reports abounded with the dire news that my goodfellas (and by extension, me) had been rendered unnecessary.
If a woman chose to do so, speculated tabloid journalists, she could make sperm from her own bone marrow, fertilize another woman’s egg — and voila, no man needed!

I can’t quite put my finger on why I don’t like this article, except that parts of it ring, just, well, wrong. For example, the first three sentences:
I WAS born in 1982 — about 20 years after the women’s rights movement began. Growing up in what many have called a post-feminist culture, I did not really experience institutional gender bias. “Girl power” was celebrated, and I felt that all doors were open to me.

Really? A couple of issues:
1. The “women’s rights movement” did not, could not, have began 20 years prior to 1982, i.e. 1962. I could understand if she at least took it back to the suffrage movement. That would then be the early 20th century, much farther back than 20 years pre-1982. But I think most would take it to 1848, the year of the first Women’s Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, NY.
2. I was born in 1981, [...]

I guess as for me, I’m just wondering how long it will be before the party of the poor, the disenfranchised, the minority, the working joe kept down by Bad Rich PeopleTM, starts to find all the dirt they can to make Sarah Palin look bad, impugn her integrity, and a whole lot of “now isn’t THIS peculiar” kind of muckraking of which they usually accuse the VRWC. 
I think it’s an outta the park hit for McCain.  I think it really kind of takes the wind out of the sails of the whole “You Didn’t Vote For Obama Cuz Yer Racist” crowd.  I can just hear a conversation like this:
Them:  “The only reason you wouldn’t vote for B.O. is because you’re against black people! RACIST!”
Me:  “Hey, I’d vote for a woman wouldn’t I?!  Doesn’t that make me kinda progressive, too?”

Me: …

I imagine that the Lycoming Carnival was a near total, mediocre outreach project to get the community onto the campus to intermingle with the Freshmen, trying to a local tie into the relantionships of us new student. I mean what the hell else would the reason be for having so stupid fair on the Quad? I mean it is fucken College. We have sex, do drugs, and maybe study. We do not attend fairs delegated by the Student Senate. I do not remember the last time I even thought of going to a Fair, it surely was not recently. There very well may be some attachment for some people do these sophomoric fairs in some of the students, but this thread is most likely not apparent in even the smallest percentage of any of the students attending this school.
