How does the Allegory of the cave translate into our modern relationships? I was once reading a magazine where it said that, thanks to Sex and the City, more and more women are looking for their Mr. Big. For those of you who haven’t seen this series, the plot summarizes as followed: Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big are an on-and-off couple who can’t live without each other, yet suffer a lot when they’re together, because she’s insecure and doubts a lot about his feelings, while he, an allergic to commitment,  is a bit frightened by her reactions. In other words, this is a masochist relationship, where each of the characters  yields to an intense passion.
Is that what we all want, passion? I believe that love should be a light feeling, not a heavy one. When I ask around me for an opinion about this topic, this is what I get:

This is one of my latest favorites.  The fact that the figure is pin sharp and the world he is looking upon is blury yet somewhat recognisable seems to be a great metaphor for life. Or is it just me! LOL!

Again, taken at the Albert Dock in Liverpool, this image demonstrates how Health & Safety has even managed to  break it’s way into the  seafareing industry! Also, that the fantastic Radio City tower has just crept in, in the background and is slightly out of focus.

“You’re awful, I love you”, voilà comment les rockers pop-punk du groupe Ludo ont intitulé leur premier album signé sur une major (Island Records).
Avec l’illustration de la pochette, ça donne déjà une petite idée de ce qu’on va trouver à l’intérieur.

Et alors, c’est quoi donc à l’intérieur ?
Des mélodies bien catchy, des textes avec une bonne grosse dose d’humour, plus un côté “creepy” et fantastique. Un cocktail qui n’est pas sans rappeler They Might Be Giants.
Il y a ces 3 mecs qui se rendent au lac Pontchartrain (en Louisiane) genre road movie, et deux d’entre eux se font avaler par le lac. Il y a ce Greg qui repère une nouvelle voisine. Il est sûr qu’elle va devenir sa girlfriend. Entre le vicelard et le malade, de quoi terrifier une jeune étudiante, ce Greg…

I am sure you all remember Channel 4’s Undercover Mosque documentary which caused such contorversy last year. Having passed on footage of preachers doing what the producers believed was inciting hatred to police, the tables were turned. Police instead wanted to prosecute Channel 4 for undertaking the investigation, and having failed to collect enough evidence to prosecute, complained to Ofcom. Ofcom found no grounds for complaint and Channel 4 and the programme makers later succesfully sued West Midland’s Police.
Last night, Channel 4 showed Undercover Mosque: The Return. It showed that little had changed, and there was still, if you look for it, plenty of extremist preaching out there. Women were preached too, and told not to travel without their husband or to work in a job with men present. I haven’t been posting here, I know. But I have more sporadic postings at Vigoureux Artiste and Her and His. I have been fairly busy with other things such as more television, playing with Photoshop and getting obessed with Edward Cullen (**blush**).
You guessed it, I have been dabbling with Stephanie Mayer’s Twilight. I have ebooks and audio books but I can’t seem to get my hands on the paperback copy. Frustrating. I, however, got the book “Nice Girls Don’t Get Rich” as a present from James.  Yeah he gave it to me as a surprise 5 days after my last post.
Back to Twilight, I am being a girl and I really like the book. Although, my backpacker friend did mention that although the story is nice there were just too many details. I only smiled back and said, “all the more reasons to get the paperback copy and [...]

Because it’s all in your minds ladies.
Even though you know you are fine the other 3 weeks of the month.  Even though you don’t normally sweat, chuck things, have rows in supermarkets, swear, scream, get spots or need lots and lots and lots of sweet carby foods. 
Even though your partner knows that you are quite a nice person the rest of the time and even though your partner also can tell when you are due a period when you haven’t got a clue, there still is no cure for this thing.
Apparently you are just neurotic, get over it.
Come on, in this day and age, scientists could have surely come up with SOMETHING that works?  Since we know that hormones have a massive effect on us in  puberty and the way  that we feel during that time as well as during pregnancy and breastfeeding, why is it such a leap for doctors and scientists to [...]
